Trans4m Fellow Andrew Nyambayo from Econet introduces Integral Marketing Model to Zimbabwe, and passes PhD

Trans4m Fellow Andrew Nyambayo, General Manager Partnerships of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, successfully introduced a new integral approach to market mobile phones in Zimbabwe’s leading telcom provider Econet and in the rural communities of Domboshawa and Murewa. On June 25, 2016, Andrew Nyambayo shared his PhD based research-to-innovation on the Integral Marketing of Mobile Phones in his official PhD VIVA, chaired by Carin Stolz-Urban of Da Vinci Institute, South Africa. Nyambayo, who had enrolled in the Trans4m Da Vinci PhD Program on Integral Development, held a convincing presentation, witnessed by Profs. Ronnie Lessem & Alexander Schieffer, a number of Econet colleagues, and by a group of international PhD Students of the same program, who began their own PhD process on the very same day.

Nyambayo’s innovation was lodged within the interface between Econet and the two rural communities, with the intention to enhance Econet’s potential to partner with rural communities, to evolve the ability of telcom services to empower communities and to strengthen local economic development.  Simultaneously, Nyambayo had worked with Econet executives to bring community based Ubuntu values back into the corporation, underpinning future marketing decisions and product development of Econet.

After the academic PhD Viva, which took place in urban Harare, participants moved on to rural Domboshawa, where the PHD (Process for Holistic Development), showcasing also the local impact, was presented by Andrew, together with co-researchers from within the local communities, Econet partners and executives, as well as key protagonists of Pundutso Center for Integral Development, of which Nyambayo himself is a member. The presentation culminated with the presentation of the Trans4m CARE Award to Domboshava Community, Murewa Community, the Econet Cooperative Inquiry Group, as well as to Andrew Nyambayo himself …. and in the festive celebration of the resulted innovation by all participants.

With Econet being one of the most prominent corporations of Zimbabwe, with a traditionally strong societal engagement, the urban-rural, corporate-community based Integral Innovation marks another milestone for Trans4m’ integral community.
