Integral Development Course meets Cornelio Sommaruga and Right Livelihood Foundation

Our Integral Development Course with 23 Students from the University of St. Gallen was invited to the Maison de la Pax by the Geneva office of the Right Livelihood Award (RLA) Foundation, the initiator of the Right Livelihood Award (also called Alternative Nobel Prize).

Jointly RLA and Trans4m hosted a meeting with Dr. Cornelio Sommaruga …
who gave an inspiring and most personal account of his perspective on “integrity” and “integrality”, and how his deep rooted personal value system has enabled him to shape the ICRC into a value-based institution during the 13 years of his presidency. A true personal/institutional case story, illustrating the need to align individual and institutional values, in order to have a transformative impact on society.

After a lively discussion with Cornelio Sommaruga, Xenya Cherny-Scanlon, Director of Communications of RLA (to the left in the photo) shared insights into the purpose and work of the Right Livelihood Award Foundation, showcasing the foundation’s aim to communicate the achievements of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for the common good. The longstanding commitment of the foundation to inspire the world through the example of such “extra-ordinary” achievements, linked with high levels of personal integrity, left a deep impression on all participants.
