Innovation Driven Institutionalized Research
(Book 3 of CARE Series)

by Ronnie Lessem (UK / Zimbabwe)

Ronnie Lessem’s Innovation Driven Institutionalized Research – Towards Integral Development introduces the notion of an Inter-Institutional Genealogy

In Lessem’s previous two CARE volumes, he focused respectively on Community activation and Learning Circles (Volume 1) and on the Awakening of integral consciousness and on actualizing innovation ecosystems (Volume 3). These in turn served as a functional-structural prelude to innovation driven, institutionalized (social) research, and to recognizing inter-institutional genealogies, again in a functional and structural manner.

In this third volume, Lessem introduces an Inter-Institutional Genealogy as an institutional configuration composed of Community, Sanctuary, Academy and Laboratory.

Such a configuration aspires to bring forth locally authentic institutionalized knowledge creation and social innovation – a role, which Trans4m hitherto assigned to an “integral university”. Such an integral university perspective is however, as per Lessem’s conclusion, institutionally and systemically inhibited – hence this pioneering notion of an inter-institutional ecosystem that, within itself, assumes the very functioning of an integral university. Building on the rhythm introduced in Integral Research, such an inter-institutional genealogy follows the trajectory from local grounding (origination) and local-global emergence (foundation) to newly global navigation (emancipation), and then global-local effect (transformation) needs the “north-west” to build on the “rest” (“south” and “east”).

CARE, as a whole, is one of the key transformative trajectories of Trans4m, enabling the gradual actualisation of a social innovation in real life context. CARE stands for Community Activation (A), Awakening Integral Consciousness (A), institutionalized Research-to-Innovation (R), and Embodiment of Integral Development (E).
