Integral Community Transformation in Nigeriaby Amadeus Stickl and EDEMCS at Ewu Community

Guided by Amadeus Stickl, Junior Fellow of Trans4m, in co-creation with EDEMCS in Nigeria’s Ewu Village, this integral innovation emphasizes the self-evolvement potentials of EDEMCS through an integral co-created model, which enables EDEMCS to be a role-model and educational tool for other communities, and furthermore, aims to lead it to be a sustainable initiative.

Calling: Co-Creating an Integral Process to strengthen Community Self-Development

The goal of this research-to-innovation is to co-create an integral model for the transformation of the community of Ewu. Building on the groundwork Father Anselm Adodo, it was truly important to let EDEMCS become a self-evolving entity, rather then rely on the constant input from outside. Hence, during the period of four months the goal was to engage the local people in the process and secure the future independent existence of EDEMCS.

Innovation Ecosystem: Building a local-global Support System

It is important for the co-creation process to have a strong foundation in the context. The researcher can not stand on his own but has to create an Innovation Ecosystem to truly get local and global perspectives concerning the apparent imbalances. With the guidance of Father Anselm Adodo the innovation ecosystem was created. It included executive members of EDEMCS and registered member of EDEMCS in the community and hence gave the research process a real local indigenous base. Further input was created through the constant advice of Alexander Schieffer from Trans4m, guiding and channeling this research-to-innovation. Furthermore, a collaboration with a group of University of St. Gallen students was established, that provided deeper global insights and further enriched the process.
